A Message from Pastor Bright Lee
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Whether you’re visiting for the first time or searching for a church family to call home, we are so glad you’re here. At Amissville United Methodist Church, we are a community of believers striving to love God, serve our neighbors, and grow together in faith. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome here.
We believe church is not just a place to go, but a people to belong to—and we would be honored to walk with you as we follow Jesus together.
I bless you in the name of Jesus that you may experience God’s love and grace here, become one family with our fellow believers, and live a fulfilling life as God’s people, sharing the gospel of the kingdom with others.
Meet Pastor Bright Lee
My name is Bright Lee, and I am blessed to serve as the pastor here at Amissville UMC since July 2026. My journey in ministry has been shaped by God’s grace across many places and seasons.
Born into a Buddhist family, I spent my early years searching for the meaning and purpose of life. When I entered Paichai High School, a Christian school founded by Henry Appenzeller, the first Methodist missionary sent to Korea in the nineteenth century, I was introduced to Christianity.
As I studied the Bible, I came to know Jesus Christ and accepted Him as my Savior. John 14:6 became especially meaningful to me: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” Through these words, I came to understand that Jesus is the way to God and the source of true life.
While attending university, I dedicated my life to becoming a missionary and sharing the gospel with people in other countries, especially among those who had little opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ. This calling eventually led me to serve as a missionary in India.
For the past 20 years, I have served the Lord in India, leading many people to Christ. I have had the joy of experiencing God’s presence in my daily life and sharing the love of Christ with many people who had not yet heard the gospel. India holds a very special place in my heart—not only because of my ministry and the many people I have served there, but also because it is where I met my wife, Grace, 30 years ago. Our son, Benny, was also born there, and our family continues to cherish the rich experiences and memories we made together in India.
In 2019, the Lord led our family to Texas, where I pursued doctoral studies in missiology. Later, the Lord led us to Virginia, where I began serving as a local pastor in Highland County and Henrico County. In July 2026, I was appointed to Amissville UMC here in Rappahannock County.
Today, I am grateful for the many ways God has led me throughout my journey. I look forward to serving God and walking alongside the people of Amissville UMC as we grow together in faith, hope, and love.
My prayer is that we may know Jesus more deeply, experience God’s transforming love, and be empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve others. I invite you to come as you are and be part of what God is doing here at Amissville UMC.
I look forward to meeting you!
